A cyclist was struck and killed by an SUV while crossing Wadsworth Boulevard at about 10 p.m. Aug. 21.
The accident occurred about one block north of 80th Avenue and Wadsworth and police dispatch received the call at 9:53 p.m.
The cyclist, Joseph Montano, 48, of Westminster, was riding westbound across Wadsworth when a Ford Explorer headed north on Wadsworth struck him, Arvada Police spokesperson Jill McGranahan said.
The man was crossing in the middle of the street, not at a crosswalk, and was wearing dark clothing and riding a black bicycle, she said.
The name of the victim has not been released.
The driver of the Explorer, a female, stayed on scene and was cooperative with police, McGranahan said.
The driver was not injured, but was shaken up from the accident.
The accident is being investigated by the police.
“We don’t think there was alcohol or drugs involved,” McGranahan said. “It was just a tragic accident.”
