(Littleton, Colo.)—Local business owners Amy and Brian Richie of Extra Innings, a premier, state-of-the-art indoor baseball and softball training facility, was recently announced Rookie of the Year at the company’s national conference in Boston. The Richies accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the entire Littleton facility. Rookie of the Year is presented to the owner with the best all-around performance after one full year of operation.
“We’re honored to be recognized as Rookie of the Year and to be a part of this company,” said Amy. “Extra Innings has provided us with a great opportunity to give back to the families and youth in our community and we hope to continue to make positive contributions to the area.”
With Amy’s background as a teacher, Brian’s career in retail and the whole family’s passion for baseball, Extra Innings was a natural path for the Richies. And Littleton embraced the concept—despite the down economy and the shift in consumer spending trends, Extra Innings of Littleton has experienced steady growth in their second year, a remarkable feat for any small business owner. After seeing success with their first location, the Richies are considering opening additional locations in areas such as Aurora and Colorado Springs.
Established in 1996, Extra Innings provides state-of-the-art practice facilities, professional instruction and a nationally recognized Pro Shop to fulfill the needs of players of all ages and ability levels in a fun, family atmosphere. The Extra Innings Franchise Company was started in 2004 to franchise the unique and profitable business model throughout the United States. Extra Innings has 40 locations in 19 states in all regions of the country and projections call for close to 60 locations to be in operation by the end of 2012.
