Volunteers designate landmarks, assist county commissioners
One of 30 designated historic landmarks in Douglas County, the Sedalia Water Tank was constructed in 1890 by the Santa Fe Railroad to serve as a water supply for the locomotives until diesel supplanted the use of coal-fired steam engines. One of 30 historic landmarks in Douglas County, the Sedalia Firehouse was built in 1933 through the cooperative efforts of citizens, merchants, ranchers, churches, lodges, and women's groups.
