Douglas County officials took over the investigation into Andersen when the information was handed over by California officials, Hanavan says. Douglas County investigators removed undisclosed property from Andersen’s home believed to be connected to the case.

Andersen has played for the Nuggets for seven of his 10 years in the NBA, playing the other three in New Orleans. Andersen, who was instrumental in the team’s run to the Western Conference Finals in 2009, has averaged 5.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game throughout his career.

Douglas County’s Internet crimes against children unit investigates cases of online child pornography and luring of children ages 18 and younger, said Deborah Sherman, spokeswoman, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

“This is an ongoing active investigation,” Sherman said. “There is so much material our investigators need to go through, it’s going to be weeks or months before there is a resolution to this case.”
