Orlando-based Connextions, a health-care business and technology services company, will create 550 jobs when it opens its new call center Aug. 6 in Centennial.

The new $4 million, 45,000-square-foot facility at 10730 E. Briarwood Ave. in WaterPark Center marks an expansion for the company in Colorado, which already has a presence in Boulder.

The company is looking hire 500 licensed and non-licensed insurance agents, who will earn an average salary between $30,000 and $40,000, as well as additional trainers, managers and operational staff.

Mike Schiano, vice president of operations said Connextions has already filled approximately 150 of those jobs, but “we’re far from finished when it comes to hiring.”

A majority of the jobs within the new center will include those fielding incoming calls from consumers navigating the world of health care coverage, specifically helping them the simplify the information needed to select a health care plan and manage benefits.

Schiano said the company is also ready to handle the anticipated workload generated by the new federal health care reform law that will take effect in 2014.

“Our industry has been preparing for health care reform long before the recent Supreme Court decision,” explained Schian, who said the recent high court ruling has been positive for business. “As more and more people enter the world of private health care plans, they’ll find they have a lot more choices to make, and that’s where we can help.”

Gov. John Hickenlooper lauded the company’s expansion at a recent press conference.

“Connextions is already part of Colorado’s thriving technology community,” he said in a press release. “We are pleased to see this innovative company continue to grow in Colorado. The company’s decision to create hundreds of jobs here is recognition of Colorado’s business-friendly environment. We look forward to a long and successful collaboration between Colorado and UnitedHealth Group.”

Connextions is still hiring and there are several positions to be filled, said Schiano.

The company is offering free College of Insurance training to eligible applicants – an investment of about $500 per person – to prepare them to take state licensing exams for health insurance and Medicare supplemental sales.

Those interested in working for Connextions are encouraged to apply online at www.jobs.Connextions.com.

Connextions is a subsidiary of Optum, a division of UnitedHealth Group.
