With the deadline passed, the following candidates have qualified to run for the Golden City Council’s four ward positions.
Marcia Claxton currently sits on city council, and is running for a second term.
She is a member of the Colorado Municipal League Policy Making Committee, and is the city’s liaison to the South Golden Merchants Association.
She works part time for Vital Outdoors.
Councilor and mayor pro-tem, Joe Behm is also executive director at Business Improvement District for Central City.
Prior to this service on city council, he sat on the board for GURA.
He has a strong background in marketing and community affairs for Harvey’s Casino Resorts, Harrah’s Entertainment, and Fortune Valley Hotel and Casino.
Pamela Gould is the vice chair for GURA, and founding member of Citizens for Golden.
With a bachelor’s degree in geology, Gould has served as a science and math teacher for many schools including Bell Middle School.
Her experience lies in health and educational efforts and organizations for kids.
Eric Scarbro is a School of Mines graduate, and sits on the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee which oversees and advises city staff on the city’s budget. Laura Weinberg has an MBA with an IT Specialization from the University of Denver. She was appointed to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board where she assisted in the Clear Creek Management plan.
