A one-vehicle crash on C-470 resulted in the death of Littleton resident Teresa Orton, 58, on July 31.
According to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred at around 7:50 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway between Quebec and University, resulting in all westbound lanes being shut down for five hours.
Orton was driving a Honda Civic when it drifted into the median and collided head-on with the end of a guardrail. Orton’s Honda reentered the westbound lanes, traveling across both lanes and onto the westbound shoulder. The Honda traversed the westbound lanes twice more before coming to a stop, blocking the right lane and westbound shoulder.
Orton, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. Drug and alcohol use, as well as excessive speed are not considered contributing factors in the crash.
