At this time of year I am always moved to think about all of the fresh ideas and new opportunities that life can potentially hold for us. I mean really, spring has sprung, flowers and trees are in bloom, and people are shaking off the winter in anticipation of warmer weather activities, so why not allow our hearts and minds to blossom and expand as well.

As a matter of fact I really love the lyrics that can be found in a song by David Ashley White and Brian Wren, the title of the song is called ‘This is a Day of New Beginnings’ and the opening lyrics go like this:

“This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that’s gone.”

Here we are winding down the ski season and looking forward to all of the sports and recreation that accompany spring and summer.  College basketball is over and professional basketball is almost finished but baseball, golf, and tennis are already in play especially with the unseasonably warm weather we have been blessed with so early this year.

Sometimes ruts and slumps have a way of creeping into our lives during the winter.  But before we allow them to take root and become the norm in our life, spring is here reminding us all of the newness that awaits us. The sunshine beckons us from our doldrums and inspires us to think and act our way out of that rut or slump and onto a positive path towards success.

There is also something about love being in the air in springtime. Whether we are in a brand new relationship or re-igniting an old flame, is there really a better time to lay to rest old hurts and silly misunderstandings in exchange for the chance at a better and even stronger relationship?

Resurrection is a word we hear a lot about at this time of year too. Whether we agree or disagree with the religious context of the word, there are times when we need to resurrect a career, an idea, a hobby, a friendship, or a business.  We should allow the past to be the past as we move forward with exuberance towards the brightness of what lays ahead in our personal and professional lives.

I am not sure about you, but I am so excited about building upon the successes of my past while letting go of anything and everything that could potentially slow me down towards where I am headed now.  I have heard it said this way, “We can’t build any more brand new yesterdays, but we can build all of the brand new tomorrows of our lives.”

What will springtime bring for you?  I would love for you to share it with me at gotonorton@gmail.com and I hope that you will make it a new and better than good week.
