Colorado Ballet will perform world premieres by three female choreographers in a program called “Tribute.” It’s a tribute to Colorado Ballet’s founders, the late Lillian Covillo and Freidann Parker, who started the company in 1961.
Choreographers presenting new works are Emery LeCrone, “Archetypes”; Jodie Gates, “Embellish”; and Amy Siewert, “Traveling Alone.”
LeCrone, 25, founded her own performers series, Young Choreographers Showcase, in New York City and has created several recognized works. She competed in choreography competitions and has received grants and new commissions.
Gates is a 30-year veteran with a career as dancer, director, educator and producer. She created the Laguna Dance Festival and has directed dance programs at the university level.
Siewert was named as one of “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine and has been noted by the San Francisco Chronicle. She worked with New York City Ballet twice and is artistic director and choreographer for Smuin Ballet.
Five performances, March 29 through April 1, will be held at the Newman Center, University of Denver, South University Boulevard and East Iliff Avenue. (7:30 p.m. March 29, 30, 31; 2 p.m. March 31, April 1). Tickets: $22 to $124, coloradoballet.org, 303-837-8888 ext 2.
An additional performance will be at 8 p.m. April 7 at the new Lone Tree Arts Center, 10075 Common St., Lone Tree. Tickets start at $35. 720-509-1000, lonetreeartscenter.org.

Fantastic too is that two of Colorado Ballet's principals, Maria Mosina and Alexei Tyukov, will be dancing in the Laguna Dance Festival in Laguna Beach, California on April 14 and 15. They will appear in the festival's "Stars of Dance" show that includes Tiler Peck and Joaquin DeLuz of the New York City Ballet, and Robin Cornwell and Jonathan Dummar of Smuin Ballet out of San Francisco. If anyone happens to be in Southern California that weekend, this show, held at the Laguna Playhouse, is not to be missed! Tickets can be purchase online at www.lagunadancfestival.org
