Fire trustee concerned about district’s direction

She represents what is wrong with politics in America. Too often we don't have an open and honest debate on the issues. If you believe in your viewpoint, stand up for your beliefs on their merit. Don't lie and edit audio to smear your opponent.
Rhonda. You want people to trust you? You want people to hand you a stake in their children's' future? Sorry Rhonda, the ends don't justify the means. Have an open, honest discussion on views, not a deceitful, lying smear campaign against your opponent. I will be walking the streets passing out flyers in opposition to your candidacy.
FranceenT333, do you know that Ronda Scholting's opponent was quoted in her OCN article as saying that she wanted to continue the collective bargaining agreement with the teachers’ union that expired in 2012? She said that it "would have led to more stability,” and “Unfortunately, the rest of the board didn’t agree". Ronda didn't seek the endorsement of the Teacher's Federation, and has not (as far as I know) claimed any intent to bring them back to the bargaining table. If you are concerned about this issue, clearly Ronda Scholting is the candidate to vote for. If you, like most parents, are more concerned with declining test scores, restoring lost instructional time, improving employee morale, refocusing tax dollars into the classroom and restoring local control, Ronda Scholting is still the candidate to vote for.
Fyi: Since this article was last written Ronda Scholting was endorsed by the teachers union. The last thing Douglas County needs is the union to return to the negotiating table.
FranceenT333, if you listen to the entire audio, you'll find Ronda's video to be accurate. It's common practice to include only the most important parts when you're referencing a 2-minute rant in a 90-second spot. The meaning remains the same. The insults from Rosen don't change. The incumbent's agreement doesn't change. The lack of response, which implies agreement, of the other incumbent and the 3rd candidate on their slate also doesn't change. If you don't want to listen to it, here's a transcript: Read the facts and see for yourself that Ronda's video is completely accurate, before you believe some YouTuber with an agenda.
Mike: So this is a Hail Mary pass now—they’re desperate. If they don’t win a majority on the board in this election they’ll probably dry up and go away. I suspect that the union parent doesn’t want to keep throwing money here if there’s no union there. So they’re gonna go for it. They’re gonna get a ton of money, money’s gonna come in from out of state from other union oriented organizations and they desperately want to defeat this conservative majority and regain control. What you’re up against in this election--and Douglas County has a favorable edge in Republican versus Democrat registrations, you’ve got independent swing voters, of course, but you’re up against what I call women--and mostly women-who have a terminal, protracted case of teacher’s pet syndrome. These are nice, well-meaning, naive soccer moms who can’t distinguish between an individual teacher and the collective menace and intransigence of a teacher union with its political power. They just see Dorothy Smith, who’s a very nice person and a neighbor and a teacher and she’s wonderful. But Dorothy Smith isn’t the one on the negotiating end, the collective bargaining end—it’s the union. And the union plays brass knuckles, hard core politics and has its own agenda. And what this is about in Douglas County, to see this experiment continue and expand, it’s about curriculum, it’s about textbook selection, it’s about choice. It’s about individual merit compensation, it’s about focusing on basic academics, rigorous academic instruction instead of social engineering and multiculturalism and diversity and touchy-feely stuff. It’s about homework, and incidentally, the teacher unions don’t like homework because their membership doesn’t want to have to grade papers. It’s about so many things—it’s about teacher colleges and the influence they have on curriculum and ideology and what takes place in the schools. It’s much more than about nice little Dorothy Smith your next door neighbor who happens to be a teacher. It’s about the direction of public education. And a lot will depend on your ability to get through to these well-intentioned but politically naive soccer moms about how high the stakes are here. Let me ask, since I mentioned women in this context, Meghann and Judi, what’s your reaction to that?
Meghann: Well, I think to some extent you’re--you hit it on the head. I think there are folks, who—it’s sort of like congress, you know, you like your individual teacher, but you look at the union overall and think oh, my goodness. To make that connection is-is, what, you know, you’re talking about. I think people need to do that. People need to understand that the leadership of the union was what we had an issue with. Individual teachers are hard workers, they’re honest and they want to do right by our kids, so we wanted to promote those people as professionals and the union leadership is what we had a problem with.
I went to Ronda's FB page to ask some questions, and within an hour of asking the following question, my post was deleted and I was banned from posting:
So will your supporter, Angela Giron, be at your next rally.
Typical Liberals - they don't want to hear from anyone but supporters.
I find it rather disturbing that a candidate would edit audio the way she did in order to mislead the public.
I'm a former registered Republican, currently registered as Unaffiliated. I am disgusted by the actions of the current board members and do not believe political parties should play a role in the education of our children. Ronda understands public education and it's unique characteristics. I can personally endorse Ronda as a woman of integrity and strong ethics, and I can't wait to vote for her in November.
