At approximately 4:15 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, Colorado Springs Police Department noticed what appeared to be a body in the water near Nevada and Las Vegas Streets while conducting flood patrols in the area. CSPD notified Colorado Springs Fire Department Heavy Rescue Team at 4:19 a.m.to respond to the scene. The Heavy Rescue Team recovered the remains of an unidentified adult male at 4:55 a.m.
On September 4, 2013 at approximately 7:30 PM Alexandra (Ali) Ponte left her home and went to Memorial Park located in the City of Woodland Park and has not been seen or heard from since. Ali was last seen wearing a bright blue hoodie and skinny jeans. She was also wearing a grey and black “Nike” backpack. Ali’s had her hair pulled back wearing a pony tail. A body of a young man, apparently killed by a Burlington Northern / Santa Fe Railway train, was found late Tuesday night, Aug. 27, near Park Trail Drive and Blizzard Valley Trail in Monument, said El Paso County Sheriff's Office Lt. Jeff Kramer.
A Teller county man has been identified as the victim of Friday evening's flood in the lower Ute Pass area on U.S. Highway 24. One more person is possibly still missing.
An accident on Teller County Road 11 on July 18 resulted in the death of an unidentified 70-year-old Kansas man. His 69-year-old female passenger was airlifted to a Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs and treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
In the afternoon of July 16, 2013, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Arson Investigators responded to the reports of two fires in Fox Run Park. The fires were located at the north end of the park near Baptist Road and were extinguished by responding firefighters.
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday stating that items sent to them for tests had been identified as human remains and that they were identified as Dylan Redwine. The family has been notified.
El Paso County Sheriff's Office says police and fire crews are at the scene of a fire on Shoup Road and Highway 83 that was first reported about 2 p.m. The fire is about 15 acres near the 12600 block of Peregrine Way near Black Forest Regional Park.
