The post by "Englewood" unfortunately says it all. The worst thing Abeyta did was to turn people from the Lord. He will be held accountable - and subject to a higher standard, for his actions. I would point out however that while you can (and sometimes should) walk away from people (heck sometimes you should run!), we never walk away from Christ.
The church should have had a board, the board and the pastor should have accountability - always. A man called by God is still a man and it's the accountability we instill that helps all of us to walk as we should.2 months ago
Does the county need the money - certainly. How likely are we to vote for it - not so likely. Why? The county leadership has unfortunately shown too many times that its not responsible enough to handle much more than Grandma's jelly bean money. For 2 years in a row they spent money that was sent to them by the state mistakenly (and then had to pay it back - evidently they couldn't figure it out after the first year), for almost 2 years they double-counted income, and then found that certain sections of the county were not being sent property tax bills.
The county leadership has shown, over the years, that they can't be trusted to handle money like adults - with each new group blaming the last. The sad bottom line is that I just don't trust them to handle any money and won't vote to give them more.2 months ago
