Wow, just unbelievable. If the School Board wants to attend parent meetings, then all School Board meetings should be open to the public as tax paying constituents. Until this happens, these closed door meetings will continue on both sides.
Somebody or something needs to bridge the gap between the parents, teachers and School Board. I think only November will tell us how that will play out.5 months ago
Amen! Glad to see an opposing view that has concrete evidence and doesn't label everything as a "liberal conspiracy". I'd like to mention the 1% increase in pay after 4 years of a pay freeze as well as the letter that forced all Dougco teachers to sign a new contract or be fired.
I had forgotten about the closed door meetings and the flyers that were being sent out be the School District bashing its teachers. Nothing like having supportive management for its employees.5 months ago
Seriously? What about the employees of the Douglas County School district? Have you talked with any of them? I doubt it. No increase in pay for 4 years and then a 1% bump that doesn't even meet national averages. Oh, lest we forget the letter basically saying that if you want to be a teacher in Dougco you need to sign a new contract or your fired? Come on. You say that the money is staying in the teacher's pockets. I guarantee that you don't represent 4,300 employees views.
You lost the election for District 2 and if you are going to run again, stop pandering to the fears of Dougco. The School Board has had zero problems in taking on the unions and getting everything and anything they want. Including a $40 million dollar winfall a couple of years ago.
I'm not an employee of the district nor have I ever been. I'm a tax paying homeowner in Douglas County that is sick of seeing my tax money go to build private schools and support private interests in the name of education. I went to public school, got a BA and and MA. Didn't need school choice, didn't need specialized content. Just hard work, supportive parents and mostly importantly, supportive teachers. Something this district fails to do with its own employees.5 months ago
What's the ratio for average home water use to acre-feet? Also, what is for an average business? I'd like some context to what is happening here.5 months ago
Not knowing the particulars, my greatest concern is the traffic and water rights. That's a massive project right in the area of incredible gridlock. I know that the North Meadows extension is going through there but it needs to be a full interchange at I-25, not just what has been proposed.
In regards to water, with Sterling Ranch also being proposed, how does Douglas County expect to meet the water needs for these two projects? My water bill can't take another rate hike and I've yet to see the Parker dam produce a viable alternative to the wells we have.
I'm all for new restaurants and retail stores in Castle Rock but it needs to be done smartly. I don't live in Parker or Highlands Ranch for a reason.5 months ago
