I loved the article because it is great to see a parent involved with homeschooling that is switched on to Learning Styles. So many people involved with home education (and in the classroom) just totally ignore the subject of Learning Styles.... and then the parents and teachers wonder why they have children with minimal interest in learning.
If you provide a child with information in the manner that they prefer and that best suits their abilities, then you have a far better chance of that child enjoying the Learning process.
We discovered this when we started using a company called Zane Education. They provide the curriculum material using online subtitled video which enables each child to process the information by watching, listenting to, or reading each presentation.
Using subtitled video as the delivery vehicle enables each child to study at their own speed, which of course is the key to that child achieving their greatest potential, but the other huge benefit is that children can study each of the 260+ curriculum topics on offer and improve their reading and literacy skills at the same time.
Zane also provides Lesson Plans for each topic, along with online quizzes and interactive study tools that enables children to study each topic thoroughly.
Anyway thanks again for a great article and I hope that information about Zane is useful, especially for new homeschoolers starting out because not only does it simplify the process of homeschooling, at an annual price of under $200 for the whole family - regardless of how many children you have - it is one of the most beneficial and affordable homeschool solutions my wife and I have found.Aug 14, 2012
